The Mobile Alabama Africatown Drummers was founded by Wayne Curtis and EJ Wright. As a group perfoming at several functions in Africatown(Located in MobileAlabama), it was realized that it made sense to organized and become an LLC. Along with performing in Africatown, the group has performed at Art Walk and is on the Art Walk Calendar. In addition the group has had performances at some local schools in Mobile. For two years running (2022 and 2023) MAAD has performed at the "Oceans In My Bones" theatrical play. The play was written and directed by Terrence Spivey. MAAD has also performed at every library in Mobile County (2023 and 2024) during the summer reading program for kids.
